The Logitech G PRO Pedals, along with the new Direct Drive G PRO Racing Wheel are Logitech’s first foray into the world of high-end sim racing products. They will be a transformative experience for anyone looking to step up from their previous products. But with that comes a significant jump in price, pushing these products directly into an already populated market, at least for those racing on PC.

At the time of writing, these are the only pedals compatible with the G PRO Racing Wheel if you plan to race on XBox or PlayStation. We understand that there will be adaptors available at a later time that will allow use of Logitech’s more entry level pedals with the G PRO base, or use the G PRO pedals with their entry level racing wheels. Of course if you’re racing on PC this won’t be a concern. You’re free to use whatever wheelbase you like, as long as they can be connected directly to your PC.

Logitech G PRO Pedal Price

The G PRO pedals come in at $340USD, €389 or if you’re in Australia, $599. This places them in terms of price, between Fanatec’s newly released V2 CSL Elite Pedals, and their staple ClubSport V3 Pedals. The Pedal Performance Kit for the V3s which I consider an essential upgrade will set you back a bit more. Importantly, both Fanatec products are also Xbox and PlayStation Compatible when paired with a compatible Fanatec Wheelbase.

DESIGN:

The G PRO pedals feature hall effect sensors in the throttle and clutch pedals, which use a magnetic field to determine the pedal position rather than moving parts. This will drastically improve reliability over their previous potentiometer design. The brake features 100KG load cell which means braking force is determined by the physical force you apply to the pedal. Not the pedal’s position. Hence, braking input can be accurately modulated around a threshold point, just like in a real car.

Included in the box is an assortment of springs which can replace the preinstalled clutch and throttle springs. these increase or decrease the resistance from 3.9kg of force to 11.4kg.

In the case of the brake, an assortment of elastomer and polyurethane inserts and lubricant are included. This provides a travel adjustment range from 18mm through to 41mm, although it’s important to remember that because this is a load cell brake, you can still modulate braking pressure even once the physical pedal travel is essentially maxed out.

While I subjectively would have liked to see an even stiffer option to suit my driving style, these pedals provide a good range of adjustability in terms of feel. Ultimately making this is a pedal set you could start off with on the floor, then move across to a dedicated cockpit later on. Although as with any load cell pedal, the best experience will always be had with a solid mounting solution. If you’re going to be forking out this kind of money for a set of pedals, I would highly recommend you use them such that your seating position remains fixed to the pedal position. This is fundamental to establishing good muscle memory.

Build Quality

The Logitech G PRO pedals have a high quality look and feel, with beautiful gunmetal anodized brushed aluminium CNC machined pedal faces. While the included pedal tray has a plastic external shell, there is a 2.5mm thick steel internal structure which provides adequate rigidity. I do have concerns that the plastic heel rest may not last well cosmetically, especially if you drive with shoes or boots.

Based on almost two decades of feedback from Logitech’s previous pedals, as well as all the 3rd party mods which have been developed for them, Logitech have adopted a fully modular design for the G PRO pedals. Pedals can be moved laterally across the pedal tray and the clutch removed entirely if you wish. Alternatively the pedals and control module can be removed from the base pedal tray entirely and mounted directly to your sim rig. You will need to be aware that the threaded inserts on the pedal cages themselves are such that you need to bolt them in from the underside. This makes mounting on aluminium profile with T-Nuts difficult without some minor fabrication work.

ADJUSTMENT:

We already touched on the wide variety of adjustment options available for the feel across all three pedals. Importantly this can be achieved in a matter of seconds, and without any tools by simply squeezing the pack of the pedal assembly towards the pedal arm to release it. This means that unlike many other pedal sets its actually practical to change your physical pedal feel when switching between car types or sim titles. This isn’t something I would generally recommend doing, for the sake of retaining muscle memory, but if authenticity is your thing then it’s great to have that option.

In addition to the lateral adjustment provided by the pedal tray, the pedal faces themselves can also be moved up and down or left and right, however there is no pedal angle or spring preload adjustment available.

SOFTWARE:

On PC, the G PRO pedals integrate into Logitech’s G HUB software seamlessly. Regardless of if you have them connected via the G-PRO Wheel or directly to the PC via USB, they provide basic sensitivity adjustment to alter the linearity of the pedal response, as well as a force adjustment to alter how much physical force is required on the brake to achieve 100% force as interpreted by the game. This is a very important adjustment as it allows you to fine-tune the brake to modulate your inputs extremely precisely whether you like a soft or a stiff pedal. Be sure to watch our detailed video review for more details as well as my best practice recommendations for setup.

You can also adjust the braking force directly from the settings menu on the G Pro Racing Wheel. So console users also have the ability to fine tune the experience, even in cases where adjustment isn’t possible within the game itself.

Driving Experience:

The throttle and clutch both have a good linear feel, with quiet and smooth operation, and plenty of trave. They are otherwise pretty unremarkable as is the case with many throttle and clutch pedals. Note that there is no option to add a hydraulic dampener to the throttle or brake like you get with Fanatec’s ClubSport V3 Pedals.

Subjectively, the brake left me wishing there was a stiffer option as I am used to driving with much stiffer pedals. If you do like a really stiff pedal, something like the new Fanatec CSL ELite V2 Pedals will probably be a better option (remembering you won’t be able to use them on Console with the G PRO base though). But objectively the brake provides all the necessary cues to establish good muscle memory and drive quickly and consistently. I think Logitech have done a great job of designing a brake which will suit a wide variety of users from those driving with the pedals on the floor all the way through to those with a full cockpit setup.

Conclusion:

As Logitech’s first attempt at a set of high end pedals, I think they have done a good job. Being the only pedals compatible with the new G PRO Racing Wheel for console users, these pedals needed to offer plenty of adjustment to suit a wide variety of driving styles. I believe this has been achieved. Ease of use is also great, with tool-less adjustment for all 3 pedals, and plenty of versatility in terms of mounting options.

This is a pedal set which can grow with you as you develop your sim rig. While I would like to see a more rugged heel plate and perhaps some stiffer options for the brake pedal, I’m sure the 3rd party modding community will take care of these things quickly.
