Battery technology has come along in leaps and bounds over the past 5 years. With Lithium Ion cells, a massively high rate of discharge can be achieved from a relatively small battery, meaning you can now jump start your car with a pack that’s small enough to fit in your backpack.
NOCO are one such brand that have been at the forefront of miniturising jump pack offerings, and recently sent me a GB40 Jumper Pack to review, so here’s my impressions….
The GB40 is rated to 1000Amps MAXIMUM current output at 12V, which they claim is enough to start a 6.0L Petrol engine or 3.0L Diesel engine. If this is not enough for you, there are plenty of other larger offerings, but don’t think oyu need a larger one just to be on the safe side. I found the GB40 more than capable of starting a big block V8 powered car.
Build quality and packaging are both great, and the unit comes packed with hany other features such as a built in torch and USB output to charge phones, cameras, etc (a feature that I find myself using regularly).
