Best Sim Racing Gear for Forza Horizon 6

Forza Horizon 6 is the kind of racing game that pulls in two very different audiences. On the one hand you have casual players who just want to drive fast cars across a big open world, and on the other you have the more hardcore sim racers who want to jump in for a bit of fun on their sim rig.

That is exactly why wheel choice matters so much here. With its more arcade style physics and Force Feedback integration, Forza Horizon 6 is not rewarding raw hardware quality in the way a hardcore sim like iRacing or Le Mans Ultimate does. It is rewarding compatibility, clean device detection, and stable force feedback.

Community reports, official support information, and our own testing all point to the same conclusion: Forza Horizon 6 currently favors mainstream ecosystems like Logitech, Fanatec, and Thrustmaster over more exotic direct drive brands that normally dominate serious sim racing.

If you are buying specifically for Forza Horizon 6, the question is not “what is the best wheel on paper?” The question is “what actually works properly in this game?”

As this title is also available on XBOX, that’s also an important consideration as most high end sim racing gear is only PC compatible.

Based on our experience and current community feedback, the only brands we’d be comfortable recommending are Fanatec, Logitech and Thrustmaster, with the Moza R3 XBOX bundle also making the list for Xbox as its an officially licenced product. All support the game and provide a good overall experience.

Note that if playing on XBOX, you will need an XBOX compatible steering wheel.

It’s worth considering that while not currently available, a PlayStation version of the game is expected at some point in the future. Playstation compatibility will require a playstation compatible wheelbase (unlike XBOX where compatibility comes from the steering wheel), so you will want to consider this if you intend to play on PlayStation later on.

OTHER BRANDS:

From a technical perspective, FH6 still looks tied to legacy wheel handling which is why FH6 is rewarding mature, mainstream ecosystems rather than just the most expensive hardware.

At the time of writing:

  • MOZA – usable, but inconsistent on PC
  • Simagic (PC Only) – partially working, still unstable
  • Turtle Beach – Requires 3rd Party workarounds, not working on Xbox
  • Asetek (PC Only) – Requires 3rd Party workarounds
  • Conspit (PC Only)- Requires 3rd Party workarounds
  • Simucube (PC Only)- Requires 3rd Party workarounds
  • VRS (PC Only)- Requires 3rd Party workarounds
  • VNM (PC Only)- Requires 3rd Party workarounds

Forza’s official FH6 compatibility chart can be found here: https://support.forza.net/hc/en-us/articles/51674028831251-FH6-Supported-Wheels-and-Devices

Conclusion:

If FH6 is your main game, Fanatec, Logitech and Thrustmaster are your best options (and really the only options worth considering on XBOX).

As this is a more arcade style game which does not carry the same level of physics integration as more hardcore sim racing titles, our recommendation is to stay within the Entry to mid-level if you’re buying for this game specifically. The very marginal benefits of high end gear just won’t be worth the money.

If you already own a sim rig using any other brand and are wanting to play Forza Horizon 6, expect to spend some time fiddling with 3rd party hacks like Forza Emuwheel, and even then in our experience the FFB is limited.
